Download VistaGlazz for Vista Themes

VistaGlazz enables you to run custom visual themes on your Window Vista 32 bit and 64 bit systems. It has different features that allow features like Transparency on maximized windows, secure backup of the files that it patches, and the recovery of those patched files back to original condition if you ever feel like going back.

Installation steps:

1- Download VistaGlazz from the link above
2- Run the VistaGlazz setup.
3- Click on Patch DLLs, Reboot.
4- Click on Patch themes file, Reboot.
5- Drag and drop your favorite Vista Visual Style (that you downlaod from guicentral.com) into Vista’s themes folder.
6- Select the Visual Style/Theme by Right clicking on your desktop > Personalize > Theme , and then select the desired theme from the drop down list.

In order to use unsigned/un-official visual styles (visual themes) on Windows XP/SP1/SP2 Beta/RTM and 2003, you must first patch your UXTheme.dll file. The UXTheme Multi Patcher (download below) will patch the UXTheme.dll file automatically. And will allow you to use all Windows XP SP1/ Windows XP SP2 Visual Styles and Themes available. (Including the themes here on GuiCentral.com)

 

Alternative method to patch UXTheme.dll:

If for some strange reason the Windows XP UXTheme Multi Patcher doesnt work for you, try this:

1- Get the appropriate uxtheme file from here: http://www.withinwindows.com/uxtheme-patches/

2- Then download Replacer: Download Replacer for XP Themes

3- Extract the contents of replacer to a new folder, run replacer.cmd and drag in the original uxtheme.dll, then drag in the modified uxtheme.dll that you downloaded, and let it replace the file.
4- Reboot / Restart your pc when asked.

How to use .ICO .PNG files as icons

How to use:
For .ico – put icon to any folder, right click on desktop shortcut > properties > change icon > browse..

For .png – use Objectdock – in C:\Program Files\Stardock\ObjectDock create any folder, put icons to this folder, put your desktop shortcut to objectdock, rightclick on this shortcut: “Dock Entry Properties…” -> “Change image” > “Browse…” and find icon.
